VHIR is seeking a Project Management Officer specializing in Impact and Responsible Research to join its Strategy Area. This role will involve supporting activities related to Citizen Science and Gender and Diversity perspective of research as part of the Horizon Europe Widera project, iMM-CARE: BOOSTING CLINICAL RESEARCH FOR THE BENEFIT OF SOCIETY.
VHIR is enabling a dedicated structure to support the implementation of a societal impact research strategy. This brings together professionals committed to ensuring the widespread adoption of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) principles across the research community. It also fosters citizen science, promotes patient involvement in health research, and integrates gender and diversity perspectives into research frameworks and outputs across the institution.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- University Degree
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Multilingual proficiency (Spanish, Catalan, English)
- Experience in training and in applying qualitative research techniques to assess societal impact, stakeholder engagement, and citizen participation in health research
- Specialized training in public health, international relationships, citizen science, and gender equality
- Self-motivated, proactive, well-organized and results oriented
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent teamwork and relational skills.
Required:
- Experience in project management, funding mechanisms, and grant development either from a research or research manager role
- Passionate about Responsible Research and Innovation, Citizen Science and Gender and Diversity perspective within health research and healthcare sector.
- Experience in research impact, stakeholder engagement, impact in grant proposals and/or impact assessment and communication.
- Excellent communication and influence skills, with a track record of communicating health research to different audiences.
- Knowledge on EU and National Funding Policies to ensure activities sustainability
- Personal skills: strong project management abilities, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, adaptability and flexibility in managing multidisciplinary research environments, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Assist in managing Citizen Science activities and Responsible Research & Innovation training within the iMM Care project, dedicating about 50% of your time to this project.
- The other 50% of your time will focus on promoting responsible research internally, supporting researchers in ensuring that projects incorporate social innovation actions, with an emphasis on gender perspective, citizen science, science education, stakeholder engagement, societal impact, health equity, and aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to maximize the positive effects on health research projects.
- Help design strategies for the long-term sustainability of project-specific responsible research activities, incorporating frameworks that assess the impact of research on communities and healthcare systems.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders in the RRI, Citizen Science, and health research domains, ensuring that research projects address social determinants of health and promote inclusive, evidence-based decision-making.
- Support project leads in developing and promoting innovative social proposals within the health sector, ensuring that research outcomes are socially impactful, ethically sound, and responsive to societal needs.
- Full-time position: 40h/week.

Required:
- At least 3 years of experience working in the field of Neuro-Immune-Gastrointestinal diseases.
- Proven experience in biological sample handling and laboratory procedures.
- Histological procedures and immunophenotyping with IHC and IF.
- Cellular and molecular biology techniques (cell isolation from tissues, cell, culture, DNA/RNA extraction, ELISA, WB, flow cytometry, PCR).
- Strong sense of responsibility, initiative, self-motivation and team work abilities.
- Maintenance of laboratory reagents and database.
- Collection and processing of biological samples (blood, biopsies, faecal samples, urine..).

We are looking for a Healthcare Project Manager with strong analytical and organisational skills to support the implementation of the H2O Project at Vall d'Hebron Institute Research (VHIR). The candidate will play a key role in the coordination, management, and implementation of various tasks related to the project's sustainability, partner coordination, and data infrastructure.
The H2O project is aimed at enhancing the healthcare ecosystem through collaborative initiatives, leveraging data-driven solutions, and facilitating strategic partnerships within the healthcare and research sectors.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- University Degree or higher degree, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Life sciences or a related field.
- Master’s degree in: Business Administration, Project Management, Healthcare Management, Data Science, or similar.
- Fluency in Catalan, Spanish and English (business level)
Required:
- Proven experience in project management, particularly within the healthcare or research sector.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and tasks simultaneously.
- Experience in managing budgets and financial planning.
- Knowledge of sustainability planning and strategy development.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
- Familiarity with data governance and compliance with regulations (e.g., GDPR).
- Experience in the management of EU-funded or international projects.
- Experience in coordinating with technical teams, including IT partners, to implement technical solutions.

- Previous experience with fundraising and partner engagement.
- Oversee basic accounting and budget management in collaboration with the project’s financial team.
- Lead and coordinate the working groups, focusing on the key areas of business development, scientific and technical matters, and project communication.
- Support the creation and implementation of a sustainability plan for the project, including exploring new funding opportunities and establishing strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate with the technical partner to monitor the implementation of the project’s technical infrastructure, including the H2O portal.
- Manage data protection compliance, ensuring proper review and adaptation of relevant documentation in collaboration with the legal partner.
- Organise key project meetings and events.
- Participate in internal consortium meetings.

Research Technician (Research on ageing, frailty and transitions in Barcelona)

VHIR offers a research position in the REFiT-bcn Aging Research Group. The candidate will be participating in the ISMED-CLIM project, a Horizon European project aiming to test and demonstrate transformative solutions to build resilience towards health risks caused by the effects of climate change. We will bring together regions, local authorities, communities and policy makers with clinical, environmental and social scientists and information technology (IT) experts to develop and pilot a technological and digital solutions for mitigation of climate change health risks and increase healthcare system resilience in the Mediterranean biogeographical region. Then we will test the solutions in the real-world setting, by conducting a randomised clinical trial with older adults. The proposal is coordinated by the University of Cyprus and involves 37 partners within the Mediterranean region.
The candidate will be in charge of the coordination and execution of the field work of a randomised clinical trial to test solutions to protect older adults from heat waves and pollution.
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Health (Medicine, Nurse, Therapist)
- Master’s degree related to Public Health, research methodology, global health, environmental epidemiology, other related to health
- Fluency in Catalan, Spanish, English (business level)
- Specific/Additional training in Aging research, Pragmatic clinical trials of Complex interventions
Required:
- At least one year experience in field work, data collection, PROMs administration, comprehensive geriatric assessment and/or testing technologies for older adults
- Organised and methodical with high motivation and initiative
- Ability to communicate with different stakeholders and in transdisciplinary settings
- Participate in the design, execution, analysis and interpretation of data of a randomised controlled trial to test the solutions developed for the protection of older adults against heat waves.
- Lead and execute the field work of the clinical trial in Barcelona.
- Engage in other projects related to aging and technology and search for new opportunities of funding in this research line.
- Part-time position: 37h/week
