Job Summary

In this role, you will be an integral part of the We Venture Capital team at Werfen and will drive end-to-end investing for We Venture Capital and support the portfolio growth and exit. You will build and maintain network relevant for We VC, portfolio and exit, as well as deal flow sources. You will build portfolio though board engagments and support/ drive exit procesess.


Key Accountabilities

• Deal Execution – Conducting due diligence on potential startup investments, negotiating deal terms and present to Investment Committee.

• Portfolio Company Support & growth – Providing portfolio companies with everything from recruiting to sales and marketing to fundraising, as well as strategic and financial advice.

• Board work and active ownership- representing We VC as a board member well as guarding We VCs and Werfens interests as a shareholder.

• Exits- position portfolio for exits and execute We VC exits from investments.

•Sourcing- bring deals of high potential and relevance. Proven track record in identifying great companies, building portfolio value and exits. Analyze and evaluate deal flow together with We VC team.

• Networking and Brand-Building – represent We VC externally, attending events and conferences, and speaking at panels providing industry insights as well as networking with other key contacts in the industry.

•Creating strategic value- Collaborate with Werfen Business units, strategy department and senior management to share trends, market intelligence and breakthroughs from the innovation community as well as display new external technological advancements though startups.

•Prepare reporting documentation as needed.


Networking/Key relationships

•With other venture capital firms, strategic investors, investor communities, portfolio companies and their leaders for deal sourcing and portfolio growth.

•With industry experts, leaders, employees, service providers, banks etc for portfolio strategy, positioning and maturation as well and M&A facilitation.

•With internal stakeholders such as business units, legal, finance and other stakeholders of relevance at Werfen globally to capture synergies and portfolio engagements with the mother company.

•With dealflow sources to ensure high quality deal inflow into We VC.


Specific requirements

• A genuine passion for venture capital, startups and scale-ups.

•Strong understanding of VC life science/healthcare investment landscape, healthcare market landscape including the in-vitro diagnostics industry as well as and industry dynamics impacting LS-VC investments.

•Exceptional interpersonal skills with the capability to build lasting relationships; great collaboration with founders, boards, within the We VC team and within Werfen.

•Strong leadership skills, hardworking attitude, high degree of flexibility exhibited in a “can do" attitude.

•Strong conceptual problem-solving skills, analytical mindset with high attention to detail, high level of intellectual curiosity, self-motivated to solve difficult issues, continually seeking ways to improve.

•Strong communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing.

•Proficiency in spoken and written English.


Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position

Education:

A master’s degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, medicine, pharmacology or similar like Software digital computing.

Other strong technical or scientific background in a discipline relevant for the Investments of We VC.

MBA from a top business school or Ph.D is preferred.

Experience of investments in digital/AI alternatively startup experience from software startups is a plus.

Experience:

Minimum experience of 7 years in VC, including at least 4 years at Principal/Investment Director or higher.
