The Commercial Systems unit is conceived as six engineering teams that closely collaborate with other engineering and business teams at Canonical. Services designed, developed, and operated by the Commercial Systems unit are at the heart of Canonical business and Golang plays an integral role in it. We are looking for software engineers for these teams:
The Billing team designs, develops, and operates a Golang service that provides a standardized and scalable capability to turn metrics into billable amounts, enable customers to see their current spend with Canonical at any time, and ensure accurate, reliable, and timely billing. The service further integrates with other engineering, business, payment systems. This team is an excellent match for any software engineer interested in growing their skills in the billing and payment processing domain.
The Contracts team designs, develops, and operates a Golang service that will become the single source of truth for all contracts with all customers. The service provides a standardized CPQ capability and stores signed contracts in a structured format. The service further integrates with other engineering and business systems including a CRM system and an accounting system. This team is an excellent match for any software engineer interested in understanding sales and revenue processes and growing their skills beyond software engineering.
The Livepatch team designs and develops a service for the delivery of Linux kernel patches to shrink the exploit window for critical and high severity Linux kernel vulnerabilities, by patching the Linux kernel between security maintenance windows, while the system runs. The engineering team behind this product develops Golang based client and backend components, while another Canonical team, the Kernel team, develops the security patches. This team is a great opportunity for a software engineer interested in security and with a strong focus on engineering quality and reliability.
Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

💼 Tu misión como Service Delivery Manager – Entornos Linux
Como parte del equipo de Infraestructura/IT Operations, serás responsable de la operación, evolución y continuidad de un amplio parque de servidores Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu y otras distribuciones).
Tu papel será clave para coordinar equipos, priorizar tareas críticas, asegurar estándares de calidad y garantizar que el servicio funcione con los más altos niveles de disponibilidad y seguridad.
Tus Responsabilidades Principales Incluirán
👥 Liderazgo y coordinación
- Liderar y coordinar un equipo técnico de 10–15 administradores de sistemas Linux.
- Gestionar cargas de trabajo, prioridades, turnos y planes de desarrollo profesional.
- Asegurar la correcta comunicación entre equipos técnicos, seguridad, arquitectura y negocio.
- Garantizar la operación, disponibilidad y rendimiento de los servidores Linux en producción.

- Coordinar actividades de configuración, hardening y cumplimiento de estándares (CIS, STIG, RHEL guidelines).

The role entails
- Investigate issues reported by customers by researching and escalating issues
- Work to resolve complex customer problems related to Canonical's portfolio of products.
- Ownership of results: Ensure that each support case owned by you is handled according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the highest possible customer satisfaction by setting the right expectations and fulfilling your commitments.
- Engage directly with customers and work collaboratively by phone, ticketing system, and remote sessions to resolve their issues.
- Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.
- Contribute new knowledge base articles and maintain existing articles, ensuring shared knowledge and lessons learned are available to customers.
- Understanding Ubuntu development process to be able to set customer expectations correctly on timeline for a fix.
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
- Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path
- Track record of going above-and-beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results
- Experience with Linux troubleshooting (collecting logs and stack traces, fine-tuning by editing configuration files)
- Experience with Linux integration with other environments (authentication/directory services, network file systems, etc.)

- Ability to navigate effectively stack traces and logs, and advise on next steps.
- Solid understanding of OS and Application level bugs and when to escalate to the correct team.
