Our client, a spin-off from the University of La Coruña (UdC) has developed a novel handheld bioprinting device (“biopen”) and a complementary photosensitive bioink for in situ regeneration of oral soft and hard tissues. They are looking for a CEO with successful commercial and fund-raising experience. Beyond these most important managerial areas, the CEO needs to have knowledge and capacity to accomplish regulatory and administration issues.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and implementation of a sound business plan for Newco, including financial projections and funding needs.
• Commercial & Business development responsibilities and organic growth.
• Securing private funding (Seed & Series A round) and other non-dilutive financing options.
• Strategic planning to maximize the creation of value and risk-manage challenges and opportunities.
• Communicating, on behalf of the company, with stakeholders such as partners, investors, and potential clients.
• Maintaining awareness of the competitive market landscape, expansion opportunities, industry developments, etc.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Solid experience in commercial & managerial positions (C-level would be valued), part of it acquired in international companies.
• A university degree in science (chemistry, biology, pharmacy) or business administration.; PhD degree and/or MBA would be valued.
• Experience in oral markets and with oral products would be highly valued.
• Working experience in the life science companies and interactions with venture capital investors in relation to financing rounds (Seed and Series A).
• Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modelling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Skills and Abilities - The successful candidate will/must:

• Have strong commercial, problem-solving and analytical skills as well as self-confidence and versatility.
• Have excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Be willing and able to be “hands on”.
• Read, write, and speak English fluently.

We are looking for a Part-Time CEO; the position can be remote with trips to La Coruña when necessary.
