Job Description:Frontend Engineering Manager (React)

Do you like building scalable and resilient, customer-focused applications in a cloud computing environment? The Dow Jones Technology team is modernizing its industry renowned Risk and Compliance platform and is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager with passion for building and advancing mission critical product capabilities. You will lead and mentor a group of highly skilled and talented engineers. You will need to bring keen analytical skills and a passion for creative problem-solving. We seek someone who can manage both the technological solutions as well as the teams who build those solutions.

Responsibilities

• Able to lead recruiting efforts for the team
• Full ownership of and accountability for the flagship R&C tool at Dow Jones
• Manage and mentor a highly skilled, talented team of Software Engineers
• Understand and practice BDD and Agile software development and management
• Partner effectively with stakeholders to manage scope and deliverables
• Lead development teams to analyze project requirements, design, implement, document, test, and maintain frontend interfaces in a highly collaborative environment, adhering to our SDLC best practices and guidelines
• Ensure engineering standards in the areas of design, code quality and security.
• Support Dow Jones technical cultural values and independently drive solutions
• Prioritize, manage and report on the status of efforts
  

Qualifications

• Computer Science or equivalent degree
• Expert in core web and browser concepts and technologies such as React, Design System
• Extensive experience of design, hands on development, and deployment of application software
• Experience in a lead or mentorship role - or aspiration to move into a leadership role
• Excellent verbal & written skills to interact with peers, business partners & customers
• Ability to organize work, set priorities and determine resource requirements
• Experience in managing product development projects and coordinating activities of project teams
• Deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals including service-oriented architectures, cloud computing, and behavior-driven development
• Substantial experience in building high performance, distributed systems that lend themselves to easy operation and capacity forecasting
• Experience in logging, monitoring & alerting of applications
• Experience in Continuous Integration & Delivery of applications
• Familiar with Test Automation and performance metrics measurement tools
