What will be your main functions?
As a predoctoral researcher, you be integrated activity within one of the priority lines of research of the IPHES-CERCA's Maria de Maeztu Program, under the supervision of a postdoctoral researchers of the centre.
Your Duties Will Be To
Develop an original research project within the chosen priority line.
Design and execute a work plan associated with your doctoral thesis.
Participate in the collection, management and analysis of data using up-to-date scientific methodologies.
Disseminate results through publications, congresses and other kinds of diffusion activities .
Participate in training, seminars and stays offered by the Maria de Maaetzu program.
Promote good practices in research, open science, scientific integrity and an inclusive gender perspective.

Additional Information
What we offer
Full 4-year predoctoral contract in agreement with current regulations.
Registration in the URV Doctoral Program in Quaternary and Prehistory paid by the program/aid associated with the project.
Financial support of up to €7,000 to carry out international research stays and advanced training activities, in the framework of the predoctoral training program.
Supervision and mentoring will be provided by the María de Maeztu program.
Access to a range of training activities, interdisciplinary seminars and international stays.
The acceptance of the offer will be formalized within 20 days of the publication of the final resolution.
Incorporation into the centre will take place no later than 6 months after the acceptance of the offer.

Criterion 1. Academic and scientific career (up to 50 points)
- a) Scientific and technical contributions (up to 45 points): participation in research projects or activities, communications, posters scientific publications, internships and scholarships linked to the priority line.
- b) Mobility and international experience (up to 5 points): Erasmus stays, international scholarships and scientific activities.
Suitability of the profile and the Doctoral project to the chosen priority line of research.
Knowledge of English and other languages.
Key competences: Analytical and critical thinking, capacity for scientific communication, teamwork, planning, adaptability and continuous learning.
Explanatory document of the project (maximum 2 pages)
The document must follow the following structure (font Arial 11):
Introduction: Description of how the proposed project fits within the general objectives of the selected priority line.
Background and objectives: State of the art, main and secondary objectives, ethical considerations and, where appropriate, gender inclusive considerations.
If research is not affected by a gender perspective, it is necessary to explain why.
Research methodology: Description of the procedures, equipment, resources and facilities to be incorporated into the research (laboratories, ICTS, computational tools, etc.).
Candidates with disability should indicate necessary adaptations to the workplace.
Work plan: Indicate (quarterly) temporal planning of the development of the doctoral thesis including planned collaborations and/or international stays.

The selection process will follow OTM-R principles, ensuring fairness, transparency and merit.
The evaluators have signed the Declaration of Absence of Conflict of Interest (DACI), guaranteeing a transparent, impartial and objective selection process.
The Procedure Will Consist Of Two Phases
An external evaluation unit will carry out the first assessment of the applicants based on the submitted documentation and in accordance with the evaluation criteria specified for the call and the Guide for Evaluation provided by the IPHES-CERCA Management Team.
Step 2. Final Review of the Selection Committee
2 members of the IPHES-CERCA and
3 external evaluators appointed by the Management of the IPHES-CERCA according to their expertise and objectivity.

This position involves the development of a miniaturized low power Hall Thruster and its neutralizer.
The second task will be the characterization of its performance and understanding of main physical phenomena, by employing state-of-art plasma diagnostics.

About the role
We are looking for a Quantitative Researcher with strong derivatives and equity trading desk experience to join our growing analytics function.
This role has been created to strengthen domain depth within the team and to support the next phase of development of our AI-driven trading platform and proprietary trading business. You will work closely with engineers and researchers to design, evaluate, and deploy systematic trading strategies, with a particular focus on derivatives.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who has operated in institutional trading or quantitative research environments and is comfortable moving between market intuition, data, and production-grade systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, analyse, and refine systematic trading strategies, primarily focused on derivatives (options, futures) with equity market exposure
- Apply deep understanding of volatility, Greeks, term structures, and risk to strategy development
- Conduct rigorous back-testing, validation, and performance analysis across historical and simulated data
- Work closely with AI, analytics and engineering teams to:
- Translate trading ideas into systematic, testable strategies
- Improve the quality, constraints, and evaluation of AI-generated strategies
- Contribute to the evolution of strategy pipelines, including documentation, testing standards, and deployment readiness
- Provide trading-domain input to ensure strategies are robust, interpretable, and suitable for live or simulated execution
- Support the scaling of the AI strategy function by embedding best practices from institutional trading environments.
Required experience
- Proven experience working with derivatives (options, futures, structured products)
- Prior experience on or closely aligned to an equity trading desk (buy-side or sell-side)
- Strong understanding of:
- Volatility surfaces and Greeks

- Advanced Python skills for quantitative research, analysis, and back-testing
- Experience working with large market data sets (historical and/or real-time)

The FPI-ICIQ **** Call targets outstanding postgraduate students worldwide to support their participation in a training and research programme in chemistry, ultimately leading to a Doctoral Thesis.
The Doctoral Thesis will be linked to a research project funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, la Agencia Estatal de Investigación, and the Fondo Social Europeo (FSE+) under the framework of the Call **** of Proyectos de Generación del Conocimiento.The PhD students granted will have the opportunity to develop their professional careers in the fields of academia and industry.
This objective is achieved by:- The performance of an individual research project under the direction of an internationally renowned Group Leader, in a creative and stimulating scientific environment.
- A complementary training programme in both technical and soft skills.
ICIQ provides a personalized annual training programme for PhD students called SHARP (Severo Ochoa PhD Training Programme), which occurs over two weeks each academic year and focuses on their specific PhD year.
- Opportunities for short stays in distinguished international research institutions.
- The programme is addressed to highly qualified, motivated and talented graduate students with a strong interest in research in Chemistry or related fields.
- The process of evaluation and selection guarantees the principles of competition, publicity and transparency.

Candidates must have completed their master's degree by November **** to be eligible for the programme (please refer to section III. Eligibility Criteria for further information on the eligibility requirements).
For academic records not issued in Catalan, Spanish or English, a certified translation in English should be provided; otherwise, they will beineligible and, therefore, not taken into consideration.
For degrees obtained in foreign institutions, the academic record must include the range of marks used in the corresponding countries and the minimum mark to pass, as well as the hours or ECTS and marks for each subject.

- English proficiency level: Applicants must provide evidence of their proficiency in written and oral communication in the English language.
This certificate is not mandatory but desirable, and alternatively, late-stage candidates will be interviewed to assess their English level.
Applicants from the Anglosphere (UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) are exempt from this requirement.

Eligibility CriteriaThe programme is open to graduate students from any nationality who fulfil the following eligibility criteria:- Candidates must have a master's or an equivalent degree in the areas of Physics, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related disciplines, completed by November of ****, that allows them to be admitted in a Spanish PhD Programme by the time the fellowship starts (scheduled for the first quarter of ****, incorporating to ICIQ no later than June 1st ****).
- When in doubt regarding the eligibility criteria, applicants should contact ICIQ's HR Unit at ****** before submission of the application.Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria will be evaluated according to the Evaluation Criteria described in point IV.IV.
- Sub-criteria:- Scientific-technical contributions (up to 45 points).
- Mobility and internationalisation (up to 5 points).
Additionally, the impact of the research stays on the candidate's career will also be considered.
- Criteria 2: Adequacy of the candidate to the research activities to be carried out (up to 50 points).
- The adequacy of the candidates for the programme, project or research activities to be carried out will be assessed based on their previous training and experience.
Evaluation and Selection ProcessThe evaluation and selection of the candidates will be performed by the project supervisor, supported by the Human Resources team, and following the procedure below:- Submitted applications will be checked for eligibility, and those not fulfilling all the criteria will be rejected.
It will not be possible to modify the application or to add missing documentation after the call deadline.
- The selection will be based on the evaluation criteria described in Section IV.
- At the late stages of the selection process, short-listed candidates will be contacted for a personal interview.
- All applicants will be notified of the final selection decision once a candidate has been selected.
Candidates may submit allegations they deem to be appropriate, within 10 days of the date of the publication.
- Successful candidates will be requested to inform ICIQ whether they accept or decline the offer within five business days of being notified.
Fellowship ConditionsThe awardees of an FPI-ICIQ PhD fellowship will be considered research personnel in training, and they will have an employment contract (a pre-doctoral contract) which is regulated in the Spanish Law *******, of June 1st, of Science, Technology and Education.The Fellowship Conditions are regulated in the **** call of "Proyectos de Generación del Conocimiento" and fellowships for pre-doctoral researchers associated with these projects, in the framework of the "Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica, Técnica y de Innovación *********", Articles 3, 12 and 13.The fellowship includes the salary, the enrolment fees to a PhD program (up to 4 years) and the opportunity to carry out fully funded short stays in other institutions, companies or universities abroad.Pre-doctoral contracts are renewed annually for up to 4 years.
Renewal is subject to satisfactory performance in the PhD studies and related research activities.
The time spent with previous pre-doctoral contracts will be deducted from the 48 months granted.
The gross annual salary will be divided into twelve monthly payments.
At the time of publishing this call, the gross monthly salary is set at €******,77.
This amount may be adjusted in the event of an increase in the remuneration established by the Statute of Pre-doctoral Research Staff in Training (EPIF).
In any case, the remuneration of the contract may not be lower than 75% of the salary established for equivalent categories under the applicable collective agreements during any of the funded years.
It shall also not be lower than the minimum interprofessional wage established annually, under Article 27 of the Revised Text of the Workers' Statute Law.
To determine these remunerations, the minimum reference category shall be that corresponding to Professional Group M3 of labour personnel.
The provisions of Article 12.4 of the **** call for "Proyectos de Generación de Conocimiento" shall also apply.The fellowship includes full social security coverage through the Spanish Social Security system, providing access to the Spanish public health care system and pension and unemployment benefits.Recipients of the FPI-ICIQ fellowship may enter a postdoctoral orientation phase if they successfully defend their PhD thesis before the end of the fellowship period.
In this case, the PhD student and the supervisor may agree to continue the existing contract for up to 12 months, within a postdoctoral orientation phase.
The combined duration of both the doctoral and postdoctoral periods must not exceed 48 months.The fellowship holder is entitled to temporarily interrupt the fellowship in the situations regulated in Article 21.
C) of the Spanish Law *******, of June 1st, of Science, Technology and Education and in Article 25.7 of the **** call of "Proyectos de Generación del Conocimiento" and fellowships for pre-doctoral researchers associated with these projects, in the framework of the "Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica, Técnica y de Innovación *********".
The time elapsed during this interruption will not be accounted for against the total time.The contract will take effect on the date when the awarded student joins the centre.The PhD fellowship awardees will work full-time at ICIQ and may not receive any other fellowship with the same purpose or regular income.VII.
Scientific Reporting of the Actions for the Training of Predoctoral Researchers Associated with the ProjectsPre-doctoral researchers in training are required to report their activities and achieved objectives to the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades.
They must use the templates available on the website of the Agencia Estatal de Investigación.

We are looking for a Junior Researcher to give support into the Innovation in Respiratory Infections and Tuberculosis research group.
Main Responsibilities
Participation in laboratory tasks, especially bacterial and cell culture and molecular microbiology and immunology. Have an active role in the different projects of the research line.
