The Computational Oncology Group, led by Dr. Geoff Macintyre at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), is seeking a Laboratory Technician to participate in a clinical research project aimed at implementing a genomic test based on an Artificial Intelligence algorithm that predicts response to specific types of chemotherapy. In this project, the analytical validation of the test will be carried out with the objective of obtaining IVDR certification and advancing towards its implementation in clinical practice. This project has a duration of 6 months. The selected candidate will collaborate on DNA extraction from FFPE samples and the preparation of WGS libraries for sequencing, in order to characterize the DNA CNV profile via sWGS. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to contribute to and participate in other ongoing research projects in the laboratory. Roles And Responsibilities

• Registration, tracking, and traceability of biological samples and experimental data.
• DNA extraction from FFPE tumor samples.
• Preparation of libraries for DNA sequencing via Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS).
• Participation in laboratory meetings and collaboration on translational research projects.
• Management of internal and external collaborations.
• Optimization of protocols and troubleshooting of technical issues in experiments.
• Support in the preparation of SOPs/protocols and documentation for accreditation in English.
• Contribution to laboratory organization and maintenance.
  
  

Selection Criteria

• Higher Technician in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory (Técnico Superior) or related qualifications. We will also consider applications from candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
• Practical experience in a molecular biology or genomics laboratory.
• Experience in a genomic analysis laboratory with a Quality Management System, specifically ISO 13485 and/or ISO 15189, will be highly valued.
• Experience in biological sample management, traceability, and recording of experimental data.
• Previous experience with LIMS software will be positively valued.
• Experience in laboratory techniques such as PCR, DNA extraction, DNA quantification, NGS library preparation, and sample quality control.
• Experience in teamwork, proactivity, and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in translational research and its clinical application is desirable.
• Experience in writing SOPs and documentation for IVDR and ISO certifications, in both English and Spanish, will be valued.
• Practical experience in an anatomical pathology laboratory and FFPE sample processing will be valued.
• Experience in laboratory organization and inventory management will be valued.
• Proficiency in molecular biology/genomics/genetics laboratory techniques, including handling FFPE samples, DNA/RNA extraction, quantification, and nucleic acid quality control.
• Familiarity and experience with NGS, ideally library preparation for Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS).
• Fluent English, both oral and written, for technical communication and documentation drafting.
