¿En qué consiste el Young Talent Programme?

En Thales, creemos que las nuevas generaciones son las impulsoras del cambio y, por ello, hemos desarrollado un programa de prácticas de un año a jornada completa que complementaremos con una formación en Máster en Gestión Adaptativa e Innovación impartida por la Fundación Universidad-Empresa (a distancia).

Como parte del equipo de Investigación y Desarrollo (I+D), participarás en el desarrollo de nuevas soluciones para proyectos europeos en las áreas de C2 (Mando y Control), Gestión de la Energía y otras, aplicando nuevas tecnologías como la Inteligencia Artificial. En particular, podrás trabajar en entornos donde los Agentes de Inteligencia Artificial se aplican principalmente a sistemas de comunicación (como comunicaciones tácticas o submarinas o redes eléctricas) en el ámbito de la Defensa. Colaborarás estrechamente en la definición de modelos de IA adaptados a estos contextos, tanto desde su concepción como en su implementación y entrenamiento.

Como Ingeniero/a en Prácticas de Nuevos Productos, colaborarás en la especificación, definición e implementación de modelos de IA aplicados a sistemas, realizando las siguientes tareas:

• Definición de modelos
• Desarrollo e implementación de software del modelo
• Entrenamiento de modelos
• Pruebas (testing) de software
• Simulación y modelado de canales de comunicación en entornos complejos

We're looking for an experienced Graphics Programmer to step in and own our rendering systems as we continue development on multiple high-profile projects. This is an immediate need, and we need someone who can take full ownership of complex rendering challenges from day one.

We have a strong foundation in place, but we need a skilled engineer to stabilize and advance our graphics pipeline as projects scale. This role is about stepping into a critical position, taking ownership of proven systems, and ensuring rendering performance and quality across our portfolio. You won't be building from scratch; you'll be inheriting well-architected systems and the responsibility to maintain, optimize, and evolve them as our projects demand. What You Will Do

• Own and maintain rendering systems and graphics pipelines across multiple projects and console generations
• Write robust, performant C++ code that forms the backbone of our proprietary Glacier engine
• Profile, debug, and optimize rendering performance across CPU and GPU, with deep focus on platform-specific constraints
• Collaborate with engine systems teams to improve data flow, memory management, and rendering feature integration
• Implement and optimize advanced rendering techniques for complex visual systems including cloth, crowds, terrain, weather, and environmental effects
• Maintain and strengthen rendering architecture as projects move into production
  
  

Who You Are

• Shipped at least one AAA title as a Graphics/Rendering Programmer
• Strong C++ programmer with deep experience in engine-level graphics systems
• Proven expertise in graphics APIs (DirectX, Vulkan, or equivalent) and shader programming
• Experienced with performance profiling and optimization in large-scale codebases
• Strong grasp of GPU architecture, rendering pipelines, and graphics theory
• Comfortable working across multiple platforms with a focus on console development

En twenTIC el código lo escribe Claude. Tu trabajo es todo lo demás, y es lo que de verdad importa:

• Entender qué necesita el cliente, aunque no lo explique bien.

• Validar el resultado con criterio humano. Tenemos un proceso automático de control de calidad muy exhaustivo, pero la garantía final de lo que se entrega eres tú.

Lo que buscamos de verdad

• Mentalidad de ingeniero: entiendes el porqué antes del cómo, descompones los problemas y piensas en estructura.

• Experiencia manteniendo aplicaciones en producción.

About This Team And Role

We are looking for an experienced and versatile software engineer to work on the tools and systems that support Firefox engineering.

This is a broad software engineering role spanning internal engineering systems, developer tooling, workflow automation, and the infrastructure required to operate them. We are looking for an engineer with strong software development skills and meaningful experience deploying and operating production systems.

Our Cloud Engineering teams provide shared platforms and foundational services, while engineering teams own the applications and services they run on them. A key part of this role is helping teams succeed in that model by solving difficult operational problems, establishing standards and patterns, and building tooling and automation that makes systems easier to operate. You will also contribute directly to the software, tools, and systems that support Firefox engineering.

You will work across projects and technical domains, joining teams or existing efforts when needed and independently taking on problems that require focused ownership.

We build in the open. Open source is fundamental to how we work, and contributing back to the broader open-source ecosystem is an important part of the role.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, deploy, and operate software and systems supporting Firefox engineering.
• Contribute to developer tooling, CI/CD, workflow automation, and AI-assisted development tools.
• Own complex technical problems end-to-end across software, cloud, and operational layers, improving reliability, performance, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Work with Firefox engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and other teams to solve problems that span technical and organizational boundaries.
• Use telemetry, metrics, and data analysis to investigate problems and guide engineering decisions.
• Contribute to architecture and technical strategy, identifying recurring problems and solutions that can be applied across teams.
  
  

What you'll bring:

Strong software engineering skills and substantial hands-on experience deploying and operating production systems are core requirements for this role. We do not expect you to be an expert in every technology or domain listed below.

• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript. Experience with C++ or Rust is useful.
• Experience building and deploying and operating production systems in cloud environments, including utilizing infrastructure as code such as Terraform.
• Experience across several areas such as CI/CD, containers and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tooling.
• Experience using data, telemetry, and metrics to investigate technical problems and make decisions.
• Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools and an understanding of their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate use.

The Global OT Application Engineer implements, integrates, tests, deploys and supports industrial applications across manufacturing sites. The role configures and implements global use cases and applications.

The Application Engineer is the technical bridge between plants, application owners, developers, infrastructure and cybersecurity teams, software vendors and system integrators. The role covers both purchased or configured applications and internally built solutions; it is neither limited to software development nor to coordination.

Assigned scope:

• Global OT applications across manufacturing sites, including MES/MOM, SCADA, IIoT and CMMS domains.
• Purchased, configured and internally developed applications and their interfaces to plant and business systems.
  
  

Primary emphasis:

• Applications are deployed safely, consistently and with clear acceptance evidence.
• Plant systems exchange accurate and reliable data through governed interfaces.
• Sites receive effective onboarding, technical support and operational handover.
• Incidents and recurring technical problems are resolved at the appropriate support level.
• Global templates and standards are applied without losing control of necessary local adaptations.
  
  

Main tasks / Standard of performance

Implementation and Integration:

• Configure and implement applications, templates and technical components in accordance with the approved solution design.
• Gather requirements to integrate applications with PLC, SCADA, DCS, MES/MOM, IIoT, historians and business systems such as ERP, LIMS or QMS.
• Configure and troubleshoot industrial data exchange using technologies such as OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs and SQL.
• Ensure that global libraries, naming conventions, templates, interfaces and deployment standards are followed.
• Document any approved local deviation from the global template, including its justification and approval, in the application documentation.
• Review technical and functional deliveries from developers, vendors and system integrators and challenge gaps in quality, maintainability or operability.
  
  

Testing and Validation:

• Translate approved requirements and designs into a complete and traceable technical test scope.
• Prepare and execute functional, integration and regression tests and support FAT, SAT and user acceptance testing.
• Diagnose bugs, coordinate correction and test cycles, and maintain clear test evidence and release documentation.
• Verify connectivity, data integrity, performance, resilience, security controls and operational readiness.
• Confirm that acceptance criteria are met before recommending release or production deployment.
  
  

Deployment and Site Onboarding:

• Lead the technical work required to take an application from a controlled release into stable plant operation.
• Assess site readiness, infrastructure, signals, interfaces, data availability and local dependencies.
• Coordinate technical activities with plant stakeholders, local OT teams, vendors and system integrators.
• Execute or supervise installation, configuration, commissioning and cut-over activities.
• Provide hypercare, technical training, documentation and a clear handover to support and site teams.
  
  

Operations and Support:

• Provide ITIL-based L2/L3 application support: advanced troubleshooting, functional bug-fixing and technical incident escalation across sites (ITIL support levels, not Purdue Model network layers).
• Perform problem management: conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring application errors.
• Manage technical change requests: oversee software modifications from assessment through testing, release and production deployment.
• Monitor application health: track application performance, data interfaces (APIs) and support trends to recommend continuous improvements.
• Maintain knowledge databases: manage technical documentation, application runbooks, release notes and Known-Error Databases (KEDB).
  
  

Plant and Technical Team Interface:

• Act as the practical interface between plant operations and the teams that design, build and supply the applications.
• Translate plant constraints and operational issues into actionable technical requirements and bugs.
• Explain technical options, dependencies, risks and decisions to plant and business stakeholders.
• Coordinate effectively with the Application Owner on priorities, scope, standards and acceptance.
• Work with developers on build activities and with delivery leads or Scrum Masters on planning and execution.
• Challenge vendors and system integrators on technical quality, delivery evidence and issue resolution, escalating commercial or roadmap matters to the Application Owner.
  
  

Skills And Competencies

Functional & Technical Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of at least one relevant application domain: MES/MOM, SCADA, IIoT or CMMS, and of interfaces to PLC, SCADA and DCS systems.
• Practical integration knowledge using OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs and SQL.
• Ability to read, adapt or create components using Python, C#, Java or JavaScript when needed.
• Working knowledge of versioning, release, incident, problem and change-management practices.
• Working knowledge of ISA-95 principles, OT cybersecurity and regulated validation requirements where applicable.

• Plant-oriented, pragmatic and structured, with strong ownership of technical issues.
• Constructive challenge of delivery evidence from developers, vendors and system integrators.

Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in automation, electrical, software or industrial engineering, or comparable practical experience.
• Experience with industrial applications, automation, MES/MOM, SCADA, IIoT or comparable manufacturing systems; senior appointments normally require demonstrated responsibility across multiple sites or complex industrial programs.
• Professional English; additional languages relevant to the assigned region are an advantage.
  
  

Working Conditions and Location:

• Primary European hiring locations Barcelona and southern or western Germany, plus a senior regional position in the north-eastern United States.
• Home-based or hybrid working with regular domestic and international travel to manufacturing sites.
  
  

Responsibility / Power of authority

The Application Engineer:

• Together with the Project Managers, defines implementation and configuration approaches within approved standards.
• Stops or rejects a technical deployment when readiness or acceptance criteria are not met.
• Recommends fixes, improvements and standard changes based on operational evidence.
• Escalates architecture, security, scope and vendor-performance risks.
• The role does not own application strategy, roadmap, backlog or commercial vendor decisions, does not act only as a software developer without integration, testing, support and site responsibilities, does not replace the plant's operational ownership or bypass agreed OT governance, and does not approve material deviations from global standards without the relevant owner or authority.
