We are currently looking to recruit an experienced professional to fill the position of Group Engineering Director, to be based preferably in Madrid, Spain, or in any of our other locations, in Greece (Alimos, Anthoussa, Avlonas or Thiva), or Italy (Milan).
BASIC MISSION/JOB PURPOSE:
The Group Engineering Director leads the Corporate Engineering function and is responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic capital projects across all Group sites.
The role defines the engineering and capex roadmap to support sustainable growth, manage obsolescence and guarantees compliance with GMP and EHS standards, and drives innovation and operational excellence. Furthermore, oversees Corporate Project Managers, provides functional leadership to site engineering teams in partnership with BU heads, spearheads the Capex Approval Committee, represents FAMAR in customer events and competitions, and acts as the technical interface with customers. The role defines the strategies for the technical functions by identifying the needs related to human resources, technologies, organization, and market requirements.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Strategy, Governance & Capex Focus.
2. Capital Projects, M&A and Strategic Transfers.
3. RFQ Process, Supplier and Customer Interface.
4. Compliance and Containment Strategy.
5. Functional Oversight of Site Engineering.
6. Reporting, Financial Management & Budgeting.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- 12-15 years’ progressive leadership experience in engineering and capital projects within regulated manufacturing industries (Pharma, Food, Chemical).
- University degree (BSc) in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering field; MSc in Engineering Management, Process Engineering, or an MBA is highly desirable.
- Proven expertise in managing multi-site, large-scale investment programs.
- Experience in turnaround situations and change management
- Strong experience in RFQ management (both suppliers and customers), GMP/Annex1 compliance, and technical qualification.
- Experience in M&A due diligence activities is considered an advantage.
- Strategic Vision and Business Acumen; Strong Leadership and People Development Skills; Excellent Communication; Negotiation and Influence; Financial Planning, Capex Management and Analytical Thinking; Deep Knowledge of GMP; EHS regulations and Engineering Standards.
- Manufacturing and packaging equipment knowledge; Cost-Volume-Profit-Relationship, Variable Costing System, Budgeting and Planning; PMP certification or similar (a plus).
- Ability to travel regularly and as needed
