At H&M Production we transform design ideas into real products. The direct point of contact for local suppliers in over 20 sourcing markets, we ensure that top-quality products are made as sustainably and cost-effectively as possible.
As a Merchandiser, your focus is on delivering the optimal product for your designated customer group across all the Production offices. You take full ownership of implementing and ensuring the success of the merchandising strategy tailored to your specific customer segment, section, department, or product type. Your role involves overseeing a structured workflow to guarantee the delivery of the most compelling customer proposition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand the competitive environment and strike a balance between customer expectations and company strategy objectives.
- Serve as the primary liaison with existing and potential suppliers, fostering strong relationships and monitoring their performance. Take full responsibility for developing suppliers to meet customer and product specifications.
- Manage supplier relations to align with short and long-term production goals, considering factors such as price, fashion, speed, sustainable materials, and innovation.
- Oversee timely deliveries, sample processes, pricing, fashion trends, speed, quality, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and other brands/assortment groups to optimize procurement procedures and secure the best production outcomes.
- Provide insights into customer group strategy within the country/region to internal stakeholders and guide them in building necessary capacity.
- You seek opportunities for cooperation and consolidation in your region and across other production offices.
As a Merchandiser, you need to have strong analytical skills for anticipating potential challenges on a global level, suggesting optimizations, and resolving issues.
You have strong ownership and work independently. You help to informally direct and guide the team to achieve regional goals. Communication skills will also be a key element as you will need to build relationships globally across.
This role touches almost the entire supply chain, so you need to proactively manage various stakeholders globally, balancing different, sometimes competing—or even conflicting—priorities and somehow finding your way through it all to reach a mutually beneficial.
To be successful on this role, you are expected to have:
- Strong product development skills with hands-on understanding of development processes.
- Preferably a degree in Textile Engineering or a related field.
- Effective time management, planning, and prioritization abilities.
- Comfortable working under pressure with high resilience
- Fast-paced working style with a strong sense of urgency and solution-oriented mindset.
- Flexible mindset, positive attitude, and the ability to inspire and collaborate within a team.
- Fashion knowledgeable, with a genuine interest in fashion trends and market developments.
- High adaptability and capability to adjust quickly to changing circumstances.
- Energetic, proactive, and self-driven working approach.
- Willingness and ability to travel when required (domestic and international).
The role will be based in Barcelona.
