We are seeking a highly motivated Materials Engineer to join our team in Spain. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to work at the forefront of materials innovation. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development, testing and optimisation of materials with a focus on enhancing physical and mechanical properties for demanding engineering applications.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team developing lightweight, high-performance structures from concept through to production. This role offers long-term career growth and the opportunity to shape the structural integrity and safety of innovative vehicle platforms.
All applicants must be eligible to work in Spain.
Responsibilities / What You Will Do
- Lead and support the development of new materials for additive manufacturing, with emphasis on metals and advanced alloys.
- Characterise and optimise material physical properties (e.g., strength, ductility, fatigue, thermal performance, corrosion resistance).
- Conduct experimental testing and analysis of powders, feedstocks and printed materials.
- Collaborate with process engineers and design teams to ensure material performance aligns with end-use applications.
- Develop and maintain material databases, test standards and qualification processes for AM materials.
- Support R&D projects, contributing to technical reports, publications and presentations.
- Stay current with emerging materials, technologies and industry standards in AM and related manufacturing methods.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field.
- Proven experience in materials development for additive manufacturing (e.g., powder metallurgy, laser powder bed fusion, binder jetting, or similar).
- Strong background in physical property characterisation (mechanical, thermal, microstructural analysis).
- Hands-on experience with materials testing techniques (tensile, hardness, fatigue, microscopy, spectroscopy).
- Ability to design and execute experiments, interpret data and draw actionable conclusions.
- Proficiency in technical reporting and ability to communicate results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) and process–material interactions.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) or simulation tools for materials behaviour.
- Experience with quality systems and materials qualification frameworks (e.g., aerospace or automotive standards).
- Competitive salary and benefits package based on experience.
- Long-term role with opportunities for technical and professional development.
- Involvement in exciting, high-performance programmes across multiple industries.
- Access to state-of-the-art tools and engineering facilities.
- Supportive and dynamic team culture, with strong emphasis on innovation and continuous improvement.
- Access to a range of benefits that support your well-being, including private medical insurance.
