Technique Solaire is a French independent producer of solar electricity founded in 2008. The group generated €150 million in revenue in 2022, €200 million in 2023, and €240 million in 2024.
It has 1 GWp of photovoltaic energy production capacity, either operational or under construction worldwide, and operates 3 biogas production units in France.
We are experts in developing, financing, building and operating solar projects.
The company expanded internationally in India (2014) and the Netherlands (2018). We entered the Spanish market in 2022, today the team is composed of 5 people and receives strong support from the headquarters. We have more than 100MW of projects under construction and we are active in various development opportunities with a total pipeline of 300 MWc. Our target is to have 500 MWp of operational projects in the country by the end of 2030.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Country Director to lead the dynamic spanish team, the business development, the construction and the future operations in Spain. As the Country Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, growth, and overall performance of our company within the country. Your main objective will be to develop and execute business strategies that drive revenue growth, expand market presence, and establish strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities
The position is located in Madrid, from where you frequently travel throughout Spain and occasionally abroad (France mainly). You will report directly to the Chief International Officer and will be assisted by the French support services (finance, legal, HR, technical, investment). You will manage a local team of 4 people that will continue to grow.
Your key responsibilities will be as follows:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the company's Business Development and Operations in Spain, aligned with the overall corporate objectives.
- Manage the Steering Committees of the projects, to ensure proper execution with best practices, and alignment with the group standards & strategy.
- Act as lead representative in Spain and be responsible for the build out of the local team.
- Set clear goals, objectives, and performance targets for the local team and ensure their successful execution.
- Develop relationships with regulators, incentive agencies, utilities and corporate offtakers with the aim to determined optimal route to market strategies for each of the projects.
Business Development
- Represent the company in negotiations, meetings, and industry events to promote brand awareness and foster business opportunities.
- Lead business development efforts for greenfield projects, including identifying and pursuing new projects, partnerships ,M&A opportunities, and collaborations within the renewable energies sector.
- Oversee and sign-off of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) / planning application process and full implementation of the planning consent to deliver construction and operation.
- With your team:
o identify, analyse interesting sites and buildings in Spain and their potential, originate project opportunities and develop a pipeline of BD projects.
o Develop projects from origination to ready to build status
o Monitor projects preparation for submissions to tenders and alternative commercial strategies (PPA)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, clients, suppliers, and financial institutions.
Construction / Operations
- Oversea the projects management, to ensure proper execution with best practices, and alignment with the group standards & strategy.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations (development, finance, construction, operations and maintenance) of the company in Spain, ensuring compliance with local laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Liaise with procurement and technical teams to identify local efficient and reliable subcontractors and EPC companies for all Spanish projects.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics, financial reports, and market trends to identify areas for improvement and make informed business decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and headquarter teams to optimize operational processes, enhance efficiency and drive cost-effective solutions.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team, providing clear direction, coaching, and mentoring to ensure their professional growth.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Set performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and implement talent development initiatives to maximize team productivity and engagement.
- Manage the day-to-day local team office life.
Sustainability and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as ethical business practices.
- Drive sustainability initiatives and integrate environmentally friendly practices into the company's operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Renewable Energies, Business Administration, or Engineering. A postgraduate degree is desirable.
- Proven experience (at least 10 years) in a leadership role within the renewable energies sector, preferably with a focus on business development or country management.
- Strong knowledge of the renewable energies market in Spain, including policies, regulations, energy market mechanisms and key players.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully developing and executing business strategies, driving revenue growth, and expanding market presence.
- Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a local team while regularly liaising with top management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
- Proven ability to navigate complex business environments and make sound business decisions.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal. French is a nice-to-have.
