As a Manufacturing Engineer at AIRBUS, you'll play a crucial role in bridging the gap between design and production. Your expertise will ensure our manufacturing processes are robust, efficient, and ready for the future. Your key responsibilities will include:
From Design to Production: Driving Industrialization & Excellence
- Championing Design for Manufacturability: Actively participate in the design phase (Co-Design/Co-Indus) to integrate industrial needs and best practices from the outset.
- Influencing Engineering & Supply Chain: Push industrial requirements, specific design parameters, and material & process considerations to engineering and supply chain teams.
- Defining & Optimizing Build Processes: Develop and refine detailed build processes for manufacturing execution, including calculating operational times and managing technical sequencing.
- Specifying Industrial Assets: Define requirements for the creation or modification of jigs, tools, tooling, and machinery essential for production.
- Driving First Installation & Production Handover: Lead the implementation of initial installations, ensuring manufacturing readiness through crucial shop floor feedback loops.
- Ensuring Configuration Management: Take accountability for configuration management (specifically Delta 2), adhering to the standsrd proccedures.
- Creating Integrated Manufacturing Dossiers: Develop and maintain comprehensive dossiers including routings, Bills of Material (BoM), and Standard Operating Instructions (SOI), incorporating shop floor needs, time calculations, and Work Preparation Golden Rules (referencing A2019.1).
- Implementing Standard Work: Define and ensure the execution of the most effective and safe methods for performing tasks, meticulously described in the SOI.
- Integrating Standard Time Values: Embed standard time values directly into routings for precise planning and execution.
- Ensuring Robust Operations: Guarantee the execution of robust, reliable, and safe manufacturing operations.
- Leading Quality & Capability: Run and support PFMEA/FMEA analyses, provide measurement tasks for quality control boards, and secure robust capability processes.
- Supporting Supply Chain & Maintenance: Contribute to supply chain management by ensuring data consistency, and support interface maintenance tasks.
- Ensuring Compliance: Integrate Health & Safety regulations, schedule demands, and economic aspects into all manufacturing processes.
- Signing Off on Key Documentation: Provide Manufacturing Engineering (ME) signature on Airbus Process Specifications (AIPS/AIPI) and Manufacturing Notice Instructions (MNI).
- Resolving Production Issues: Proactively manage key and recurrent work preparation issues escalated by production teams and shop floor support.
- Fostering Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate directly and participate physically in Production Team routines, actively engaging in cross-skilled national and international project teams.
- Driving Shop Floor Optimization: Provide expert work preparation insights to support continuous improvement initiatives when issues exceed shop floor technical support capabilities.
- Optimizing Production Processes: Identify and implement further developments and continuous improvement (CI) measures for production processes.
- Contributing to Strategic Planning: Advise on budget preparation and support CAPEX planning for cost improvement initiatives.
- Evaluating Industrial Impacts: Collaborate with Industrial Architects (IA), Industrial System Engineers (ISE), Industrial Technologies jobs, Tool Design Engineers (TDE), and Production Process Engineers (PPE) to evaluate industrial impacts of modifications.
- Supporting Run@Rate: Perform and support the Run@Rate process when applicable, ensuring production readiness and efficiency.
We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in manufacturing engineering and a passion for aerospace.
- Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role, ideally within a complex production environment (aerospace or similar heavy manufacturing preferred).
- Technical Acumen:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with routings, Bills of Material (BoM), and Standard Operating Instructions (SOI) creation and management.
- Proficiency in time calculation and technical sequencing.
- Familiarity with PFMEA/FMEA and quality control processes.
- Knowledge of industrial asset specification (jigs, tools, machinery).
- Understanding of configuration management principles (ideally Delta 2, or similar).
- Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex manufacturing challenges.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams (Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality) and communicate complex technical information clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Proactive & Autonomous: A self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Adaptability: Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies, processes, and challenges.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to documentation and process definition.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
