As a member of our dynamic team, you'll play a crucial role in evolving our recommendation engine and multi-channel engagement platform. We pride ourselves on understanding our readers' preferences and delivering personalized book recommendations through intelligent and timely communication across email, push notifications, and other digital channels. Key job responsibilities
- You are an autonomous contributor who makes architectural decisions balancing technical excellence with business impact
- You work with your team to design and build stable, performant software systems
- You create flexible solutions while making appropriate trade-offs, favoring code reuse and careful dependency management
- You resolve complex technical problems at their root cause, improving system maintainability
- You lead the planning and execution of critical projects that impact millions of readers
- You collaborate with stakeholders to disambiguate business requirements
- You help evolve the team through active participation in design discussions, planning sessions, and metric reviews
- You write high-quality, maintainable code while advocating for engineering best practices
- You help your team evolve by actively participating in the code review process, design discussions, team planning, and ticket/metric/COE reviews.
- You mentor other developers on technical best practices and system architecture
- You train new team members on system operations, security, and architectural context
- You conduct interviews to help build a strong engineering team
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
