What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong IT Service Owner / Application Responsible Deputy to join our Digital Banking Technology team. In this key operational role, you will act as deputy to the Application Responsible, ensuring seamless, reliable, and secure operation of critical banking applications throughout their lifecycle. You will serve as the primary point of contact for service stability, operational readiness, and incident leadership, bridging development, infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role within an Agile environment, requiring deep system knowledge, disciplined process adherence, and clear communication across levels and functions.

Hybrid position in Madrid (3 days at client´s office, Sol area, next to the underground).

Key Responsibilities

- End-to-End Service Ownership: Ensure high availability, optimal performance, adequate capacity, and robust disaster recovery capabilities across assigned services.

- Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs): Define, govern, and verify NFRs including SLAs, RTO/RPO targets, scalability benchmarks, observability, and resilience standards.

- Incident & Problem Management: Lead Level 3 troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for complex incidents; drive preventive actions to reduce recurring issues.

- Change & Deployment Governance: Actively participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB), evaluate change risks, and provide Go/No-Go recommendations based on testing, rollback plans, and UAT outcomes.

- Release & Transition Leadership: Lead the burn-in and transition phase for new features and major releases.

- Production Coordination: Coordinate with Release Managers on deployment plans, dependencies, and production cutover.

- Technical Validation and Review:

- Assess database scripts (T-SQL, PL/pgSQL) for performance, indexing, and locking concerns.

- Audit CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) for proper implementation of quality gates, security scanning, and approval workflows.

- Verify deployment configurations (Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests, Octopus Deploy steps).

- Monitoring & Observability: Utilise tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk to proactively monitor services and perform log-metric-trace correlation for rapid issue isolation.

- Cross-Platform Operations: Support hybrid environments spanning Windows Server and Linux (RHEL), managing logs, certificates, services, firewalls, and permissions.

- Risk and Compliance:

- Conduct IT risk assessments and oversee mitigation plans.

- Enforce compliance with Information Security policies regarding access control, network segmentation, and hardening standards.

- Maintain up-to-date runbooks, business continuity documentation, and audit evidence.

- Agile Collaboration: Work embedded within Agile Release Trains (ARTs), applying SAFe principles and leveraging Confluence for transparent planning and knowledge management.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with developers, solution architects, cyber defence teams, infrastructure engineers, and business partners—translating technical realities into actionable insights.

YOUR PROFILE

Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience considered.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT operations, application support, or service ownership roles, preferably within the financial services sector.

Technical Competencies

You possess proven skills in most of the following areas:

· Relational databases: MSSQL (T-SQL), Oracle, or PostgreSQL (query optimisation, transaction handling)

· Operating Systems: Strong command of both Windows Server and Linux (RHEL),scripting, service configuration, log analysis

· Development/Integration Technologies: .NET Core/.NET Framework, Entity Framework, RESTful APIs, Python

· Containerisation & Orchestration: Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes (including Helm chart management)

· Automation Tools: Hands-on use of Octopus Deploy, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code concepts

Process and Methodology Expertise

· Solid understanding of ITIL 4 best practices, particularly in Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management.

· Familiarity with SAFe framework or Scrum and collaboration in Agile cross-functional teams.

· Certified ITIL 4 Foundation holder (preferred)

Tools and Platforms

- Monitoring: Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus/Grafana

- DevOps: GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy

- Documentation and collaboration: Confluence, Jira

Languages

- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

- Spanish language proficiency is advantageous but not mandatory.

Personal Attributes

- Structured thinker with strong attention to detail.

- Proactive mindset with ability to take ownership under pressure.

- Confident in playing a gatekeeper role for production systems, balancing speed and stability.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

Valued Strengths (Nice-to-Haves)

- Experience with cybersecurity operations, endpoint protection (EDR tools), and secure baseline configurations.

- Scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Bash for automation and diagnostics.

- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and modern identity/authentication protocols (OAuth2, OpenID Connect).
